The Dylan Rich Legacy Charity

A long-standing Partner, The Dylan Rich Legacy Charity has enabled us to provide weekly football sessions to give kids access to football and an opportunity to develop any football-related dream.

Dylan Rich died on 5th September 2021 following a sudden cardiac arrest while playing football in West Bridgford. He was 17 years old. You can read more about Dylan here.

His family and friends were determined that his death should leave a lasting legacy, one that reflects Dylan’s passions. A legacy fund has been established and this is being used to support causes close to Dylan’s heart. In November 2022 the fund became an official charity.

The first charity partner in place and receiving funding in line with the aims of the DRLF is Belong. Dylan’s fund is supporting access to football for young people within the Belong community. Belong started regular football training sessions on Friday evenings in February 2022, giving young people the chance to play and develop, with the aim of entering children into local league football teams. Over 100 young people have already been able to access the sessions and coaching courses have also been run for members of the community, providing new skills and setting up the project to become self-sustaining over time.

In 2023 we hope that this project will continue to grow and flourish and provide enjoyment for many more young people from Belong.

These are a couple of snips of info from Chris Mullins:

“I have been thinking about doing a coaching qualification as this experience has been life changing, but my coaching skills need improving, I always played football but never coached and it is a pleasure to be involved with the Belong charity……….so thank you”

“Friday night with the kids coaching was the highlight of my week, and watching the children grow and showing them new values literally changed my life. I wanted to help, but indirectly it made me better also, and I will always be in the debt of the Belong charity and the Dylan Rich project…….it literally saved my life!”

Our transformative initiative dedicated to developing transferrable skill sets for our youth. Our mission is to integrate young people within society, empower them to seize opportunities, and create a sustainable future and this is done through:

Beeston Hockey Club

A long-standing Beeston Hockey Club has provided links and opportunities for some of our children to join the club, integrate with different members through Hockey.

Rugby Football Union

The RFU is a recent partner, and they’ve commissioned Belong to conduct an in-depth research analysis into the understanding of Rugby within our diverse community groups. To identify similarities in values, needs and in the end, develop a genuine interest in Rugby (specifically Tag rugby).
